Mark guide: camera-parameter watermarks in three steps
Mark (镜笺) is a free online photo watermark tool built for camera-parameter watermarks: it reads the EXIF data in your photo and lays out the camera model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length and capture time as a watermark or border, with the brand logo matched automatically. Everything runs inside your browser — photos are never uploaded.
Three steps
Drop your photos
Open mark.lenscript.cn/en/ and drag JPEG / PNG / RAW files onto the page, or click the dashed box to choose files. Drop several at once and switch between them in the filmstrip at the bottom.
Pick a style, tweak the details
Choose one of 50 styles in the left list (see the style gallery). The top bar lets you switch JPEG / PNG, add a credit, toggle the © mark, pick or upload a logo, choose a social-media ratio, move the watermark to the top or bottom, and turn individual fields on or off. DIY Size adjusts logos (50–200%) and text (75–150%), with a reset button; fixed layouts explain their limits.
Download
Click “Download” at the top right. The browser version exports the photo you are looking at — there is no zip bundle; with several files loaded, step through the filmstrip at the bottom and download each one. JPEG is re-encoded at quality 100, PNG is pixel-lossless, and resolution matches the original.
Supported input formats
JPEG, PNG, and common camera RAW files: ARW / SR2 (Sony), CR2 / CR3 / CRW (Canon), NEF / NRW (Nikon), RAF (Fujifilm), ORF (Olympus / OM System), RW2 (Panasonic), PEF (Pentax), DNG, X3F, 3FR and more.
HEIC / HEIF is not supported yet (no libheif in the browser). iPhone users: set Camera → Formats to “Most Compatible”, or convert to JPEG first.
Brand logos matched automatically
Matched from the maker and model in EXIF. 29 brands are built in:
NikonCanonSonyFujifilmPanasonicOlympusPentaxRicohHasselbladLeicaZeissDJIAppleXMAGEREDMIXiaomiOnePlusrealmeOPPOiQOOvivoSamsungGoogleHonorMEIZUnubiaZTEMotorolaASUS
Sub-brands win over parent brands (Xiaomi / REDMI, vivo / iQOO, OPPO / realme, ZTE / nubia). Co-branded marks (Huawei × Leica, OPPO × Hasselblad, OnePlus × Hasselblad) stay manual options because partnerships end — auto-matching follows current facts: Huawei defaults to XMAGE, OnePlus to OnePlus. If the match is wrong or you want your own mark, use the “Logo” control to pick one or upload a PNG.
Export quality and metadata
Full-resolution export: JPEG is re-encoded at quality 100 with no chroma subsampling (4:4:4); the photo region in PNG output is pixel-lossless. Output only grows when a border is added — it never shrinks.
JPEG exports keep cleaned EXIF, ICC colour profile and XMP; PNG exports write back camera, lens, aperture, shutter, ISO, focal length and date. GPS location is removed by default so sharing doesn’t reveal where you shot. Previews use thumbnails; exports always re-render from the original.
More than the web app
The same Rust rendering engine also ships as Windows / macOS / Linux desktop apps, an Android app and a CLI — identical output, handy for large batches or offline work. Installers and source are on GitHub (Apache-2.0).
Frequently asked questions
- Is Mark free? Do I need an account?
- Completely free, no sign-up or login — open the page and start. Open source under Apache-2.0.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. Reading EXIF, rendering the watermark and exporting all happen in your browser via WebAssembly; the page only downloads the engine itself on first load. Photos you have opened keep working even if you go offline.
- Is the export re-encoded or downscaled?
- JPEG is re-encoded at quality 100 with 4:4:4 chroma; the photo region in PNG output is pixel-lossless. Both export at full resolution (the canvas only grows when a border is added).
- Why isn’t my camera model detected?
- Usually the photo has no EXIF: it’s a screenshot, was re-saved by an editor, or was compressed by a messaging app (WhatsApp, WeChat, etc.) which strips metadata. Use the original file from your camera or phone gallery (send as “original / document” in chat apps). If there’s truly no EXIF, type the model into the “Model fallback” box at the top.
- Do phone photos work?
- Yes. iPhone, Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Samsung, Google Pixel and other phone photos carry EXIF and get the matching brand logo. Note that iPhone’s default HEIC format must be converted to JPEG first.
- Does it support Sony / Nikon / Canon / Fujifilm / Leica watermarks?
- Yes, and model names are normalised to each maker’s official style — Sony Alpha bodies show as α7C II, Fujifilm as FUJIFILM X-T5, Panasonic as LUMIX, and Nikon Z-mount bodies use the double-struck Z mark.
- Can I process photos in batches?
- The browser version takes several files at once and they share the current style and settings, but downloads come one at a time: Download saves the photo you are on, and there is no zip bundle. For dozens of files use the desktop or CLI build on GitHub, which process a whole folder in one go. You can also switch styles per photo.
- How do I get an Instagram-friendly ratio?
- Pick 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and more under “Ratio”. Mark extends the canvas (blurred extension or solid black) to fit — your photo is never cropped.
- Can I choose which fields show, and put the watermark at the top?
- Yes. “Fields” toggles camera, lens, settings, date and so on; styles that support it let you switch top / bottom under “Position”. Adjustable options differ per style and the UI states clearly which parts are fixed.
- Which styles work with white or high-key photos?
- Shade Canopy anchors a bright photo with a pine-green info bar and a centered slot for a brand or uploaded logo. Frost Keyline uses a cool light-gray bar with graphite-colored text; Indigo Shadow uses a deep indigo-gray bar with pale text. All three preserve the full photo.
- Why does my uploaded logo look small?
- Transparent PNG padding is trimmed before layout. Use DIY Size to adjust the logo; opaque white backgrounds are retained. Logo size is limited by the template layout. Text size can also be adjusted, with automatic fitting for long lines.
- How is this different from my phone’s built-in watermark?
- Built-in gallery watermarks usually offer one fixed layout and only recognise their own brand. Mark has 50 layouts, 29 brand logos, custom logos and credits, full-resolution export, and handles camera RAW files directly.
- Why won’t HEIC open?
- There is no HEIC decoder in the browser build. On iPhone go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose “Most Compatible”, or export a JPEG with the system converter.
- Do exported photos keep EXIF? Will they leak my location?
- JPEG keeps cleaned EXIF / ICC / XMP and PNG writes back camera info so settings stay readable later; GPS is removed by default so the shooting location is not revealed.
- Is there a desktop or Android version?
- Yes. Windows / macOS / Linux desktop, Android and CLI builds are released on GitHub and share the same engine as the web app, so renders are identical.
